Maudsley Charity has focused on two major building developments over the past few years: the new learning centre at Maudsley Hospital and the refurbishment of Trust-owned properties at 6 to 11 Windsor Walk.
The new learning centre, ORTUS, provides a state-of-the-art education and training facility for staff of the Trust and colleagues from partner organisations. Based at the heart of the South London community, ORTUS has been designed to cater for a wide variety of uses and can also be hired for private events. The learning centre also doubles as a community hub, having opened its doors to local people, with peaceful gardens and a community café to enjoy.
The refurbishment of the Windsor Walk properties further reinforces the Trust’s community involvement, providing accommodation for parents whose children are being treated in King’s College Hospital. The homes are let on a long-lease to King’s College Hospital, who also manage the accommodation. These previously neglected buildings now provide 24 bedrooms for families needing support at a difficult time.
